Long Term Drug Rehab Cost

Long Term Drug Rehab

Don’t let the cost of long term drug rehab scare you away from the treatment you deserve!

The cost of rehab differs from one facility or program to the next but there are some factors that can greatly reduce (or increase) the total cost of long term drug rehab which must be considered when determining if a program will be within budget.  For instance, many long term drug rehab programs offer inpatient and outpatient services.  Naturally, the inpatient rehabilitation services are typically higher priced than outpatient services simply because of the need for additional space, meals, around-the-clock care and time that is put into inpatient rehab versus the outpatient program.

Factors in Determining the Cost of Long Term Drug Rehab

Many factors go into determining the overall cost of long term drug rehab.  While long term drug rehab programs are typically a period of 6 months or more, the length of the program may increase the cost especially for those programs which span a period of one year or more.  Additional factors that can increase the cost of long term drug rehab include:

  • Medications
  • Types of treatment (equine therapy, art therapy, individual or group)
  • Number of counseling or therapy sessions
  • Level of care (inpatient or outpatient)
  • Special needs of the patient (health needs, etc)
  • Privacy (private accommodations tend to cost more)
  • Accommodations in general (luxury accommodations versus standard)

Amenities that Increase the Cost of Long Term Drug Rehab

While you would naturally want to choose a long term drug rehab that has all the bells and whistles, for some, these amenities can inflate the cost of treatment so much that the treatment really just is not affordable.  You can expect every long term drug rehab program to include counseling, therapy, detox and aftercare in the overall cost and these are items that you cannot give up.  However, there are some amenities that may increase the cost of long term drug rehab without much need.  The following amenities are “nice” to have at long term drug rehab, but may increase to cost and should be eliminated if you are on a tight budget for treatment:

  • Spa services
  • Acupuncture and other alternative treatments
  • Unnecessary Medications
  • Saunas, Pools etc.
  • Massage therapy
  • Yoga and meditation that can be done alone
  • Private accommodations and living spaces
  • Specialized therapy such as equine therapy, art therapy, etc. (these are all excellent forms of therapy but they can increase cost significantly)
